Castlewellan based TS Foods – one of Northern Ireland’s leading chilled and frozen food producers – has won two medals in this year’s prestigious Great Taste Awards, run by the Guild of Fine Food in the UK.
The awarded products – TS Foods Premium Sage & Onion Stuffing and TS Foods Premium Cranberry, Apricot & Orange Stuffing – were amongst a total of 12,777 products entered by food companies from 106 countries.
Founded in 1994 and widely regarded as a stamp of excellence, the Guild of Fine Food’s Great Taste Awards values taste above all else with the judging panel made up of food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, retail buyers, cooks, producers, food writers, journalists and influencers.
Both of the products entered by TS Foods received a one-star award, with judges commenting on the flavour, versatility and texture of each.
Their comments on the TS Foods Premium Cranberry, Apricot & Orange Stuffing included:
‘This is a lovely and light stuffing. It is crumbly and fluffy in texture with generous amounts of apricots, cranberries and orange. Every mouthful tastes different. The butter is quite delicious’.
Of the classic TS Foods Premium Sage & Onion Stuffing, the judges noted:
‘Appealing golden stuffing with a crunch outside and moist centre. Fresh, herby and buttery. A good balance of herbs and onion. The high level of butter makes it very indulgent and creamy. A versatile product that would go with any roast. A light stuffing, considering how moist and buttery it is. A deliciously simple stuffing’.
Joanne Molloy, Managing Director of family-run TS Foods, said:
‘We are delighted that two of our long standing products are still getting recognition. In particular, to be recognised by the Guild of Fine Food is a major achievement as they have thousands of entries each year which means the competition is incredibly tough.
We have always been proud of the quality and taste of all our products and are very pleased that it has been verified by a panel of independent, food-loving experts.”
